Finding Inspiration in Every Turn
Ladies social club offering visits from outside speakers and trips to various venues and providing informal and social contact for ladies of Warmsworth and district.
A warm welcome and a cuppa always awaits you at our friendly weekly meetings before our presenter for the evening entertains us. We have a very varied selection of activities, speakers and presenters so that there is something of interest to all of our members.
The club was set up in March 1965 by a teacher at the village school and meetings were held once a week. Then, as now, it was based on speaker and social evenings and refreshments were provided by members via tea rotas. Money was raised for charity every year.
Nowadays the club is still going strong with social evenings, outings, activities and presenters who regale us with their knowledge on all manner of topics.
Each year we choose to support a different charity and the proceeds of raffles and other fundraising initiatives go to the chosen charity, including proceeds from a book sale before the start of the meeting on the first Tuesday of each month.
The club celebrates its anniversary each year with an Anniversary Dinner where members can enjoy a meal out together.
The first meeting for new members is a ‘taster’ and therefore there is no charge.
If you decide to join the club, membership currently costs £5 for the first meeting of each term and £3.00 thereafter. (This is to cover the cost of hire of the venue, insurance, refreshments and speaker fees.)
Meetings are held on Tuesday evenings between 7pm & 9pm at Warmsworth Community Hub, Stapleton Road, Warmsworth, Doncaster DN4 9LL.
If you’d like to give it a try but are a little unsure about coming along by yourself, feel free to bring a friend, or contact Angie our chairperson who can then look out for you when you arrive and introduce you to someone who will ‘look after you’ for the evening.
